Stone Mad

May 23, 2021March 17, 2022 mawiedraoi

As we near 'An Grianstad' (Gaelic for Midsummer and literally translates as 'Sun Stop') I am so excited to mark the Summer Solstice with my Druid tribe. I thought it would be apt, as my contribution to this wonderful Blog, to showcase and share some of the sites I have had the privilege of visiting… Continue reading Stone Mad

One of Ireland’s most famous Filí. 🎶 When the day comes for me to lay down and be free I want to be reincarnated and come back as a tree. Tall and strong and smelling of pine and living again for a very long time. In the summer I'll dress in a cool suit of green and give homes to the squirrels who nibble my cones. My roots will be stable and deep and though unable to walk, I am able to talk with the winds and the birds of the air. And who is out there and able to see that being reincarnated as a wonderful tree is a beautiful thing? I shall knit with my needles a song to be sung and sing in the spring when the winter is done. What fun it will be when I am a tree and being a tree in such good company with the Ash and the Oaks who are such marvelous blokes will be good for me. When the day comes for me to lay down and be free, I will reach up to the sky and come back as a tree. "Magic birds were dancing in the mystic marsh. The grass swayed with them, and the shallow waters, and the earth fluttered under them. The earth was dancing with the cranes, and the low sun, and the wind and sky." - Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings “Healing is an art. It takes time, it takes practice, it takes love." - Maza Dohta Uisneach… 🔥🔥🔥 A beautiful, powerful experience like none other and honor for the cauldron folks to be involved in the procession, drumming and singing with Coire Sois: Irish School of Spirituality. Deirdre, we love you with our whole hearts! Please do check out her journeys/events on her Facebook page if you’re interested in connecting authentically to the Gods and Goddesses of Ireland. Also, only very thankful to the folks at Uisneach for putting on such an incredible event! “So much of Irish history has been hidden by time, and then a lot of what has been recovered has been locked away in academia, so my aim is to bring something more tangible to the forefront.” “There are many legends of wild people in the woods, mainly written around the 12th century but from older sources, such as An Buile Shuibhne (The Mad Sweeney), who was cursed to wandering naked and living in trees. Merlin's madness and his life as a wild man of the woods (from Vita Merlini by Geoffrey of Monmouth), Myrddin Wylt's wandering in the company of beasts (from Middle Welsh poetry) and Lailoken, madman and prophet who lived in the forest (from Vita Kentigerni). A lesser known wild one, was Mis from Irish folklore... “ To be without trees would, in the most literal way, to be without our roots. - Richard Mabey Beannachtaí na Bealtaine ☀️Hope everyone has a wonderful day through to this weekend! 🌻🔥 And a wonderful Samhain to everyone in the Southern Hemisphere.
