
A retired teacher told me when they were growing up they would call these rocks which are hidden in the forest, ‘Biróg’s Lair’. They were very frightened of this place, as they were told Biróg was a banshee. So always felt fear or felt an unseen force when passing, when they came near they would run past the lair. The rock and Biróg (the fada is in modern Irish) is from Irish mythology and woven into the fabric of Donegal folklore…
